NewAthena X-Ray Astronomy

I develop science cases, spectral simulations, and prospective observing strategies for NewAthena, an ESA mission currently in study, using observations from Chandra, XMM-Newton, NuSTAR, and XRISM as preparation and exploring future coordination with LISA.

Scientific questions

Questions guiding this work

  1. 01

Which proposed feedback measurements could use NewAthena’s planned high-throughput imaging and high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy?

  2. 02

How can XRISM spectroscopy and observations from Chandra, XMM-Newton, and NuSTAR provide the preparatory measurements needed for NewAthena?

  3. 03

Which future joint NewAthena and LISA observations could connect electromagnetic and gravitational-wave views of black-hole accretion, winds, and mergers?
